Mentoring and Tutoring

Mentoring

Uncommon Good provides our students with adult mentors who guide them through the difficulties of school, applying and getting into college, and balancing their busy schedules. Mentors and mentees in the program spend time together each week by engaging in activities, discussing everyday experiences, and sharing their friendship. Students look up to their mentors who provide an additional pillar of support as they continue on their journey to college.

Are you interested in becoming a mentor for one of our students? As a mentor you:

  • Must be a current college student, or college graduate
  • Must be able to spend at least two hours each week with your mentee
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Tutoring

Uncommon Good also provides our students with tutors in order to help them stay on track to get into college. Tutors spend time each week helping their student with coursework (in one or more subjects, depending on the tutor’s specialty), answering questions, and exploring academic interests.

Interested in becoming a tutor for our students? As a tutor you:

  • Must be a high school or college student, or be a college-educated adult
  • Must be able to spend at least 1-2 hours per week with your student
  • Must be able to pass a background check
