Equity and Inclusion

Our values:

Uncommon Good believes in equity and inclusion for all regardless of one’s race, ethnicity, social background, religion, gender, age, disability, or sexual orientation. We stand with all marginalized and minority communities in their fight against injustice and institutionalized oppression.

Uncommon Good’s mission to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty cannot be fully accomplished without first acknowledging the fact that the institutional forces that cause poverty disproportionately target marginalized and minority communities.

Our work aims to alleviate barriers and empower those targeted by these forces in order to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

How we enact those values:

Our work:

The cycle of poverty targets marginalized and minority communities the most. Our work aims to break the cycle of poverty through engaging programming which encourages students to attend college, provides fresh food and resources for families, and helps doctors working in underserved communities repay their student loans.

Our staff:

We are an equal opportunity employer, and our staff reflects the diverse community we serve. Our strength draws from the wide range of backgrounds, expertise, and points of view each staff member brings.

Our board:

Oversight and guidance for our organization must be diverse in order for us to properly serve the communities we aim to work with. Our board reflects these values as most of our members are women and/or members of the latinx community.
