The fruits and vegetables grown by Uncommon Good are provided to local families in need of assistance. While many organizations in the Pomona Valley offer food assistance, Uncommon Good offers a niche opportunity by providing fresh organic, chemical-and-pesticide-free produce. Our urban agriculture program allows us to control the production and distribution of our organic produce, ensuring that the families we serve receive high-quality fruits and vegetables they might not otherwise access. In the past year, Uncommon Good has provided over 20 tons of fresh produce to families in need.
Uncommon Good is proud to collaborate with community partners like Pilgrim Place, Pitzer CSA, Pomona College Organic Farm, and Growing Roots to provide fresh produce to the greater community. We grow at 8 farm plots through land partnerships with Claremont Presbyterian Church, Claremont Unified School District, Crossroads, Inc., and other private partners.
We also partner with organizations like Love For Humanity, which supplies us with dry goods such as beans and rice, as well as produce like potatoes and onions. While we cannot confirm the organic status of these items, they are invaluable in supporting our community, especially during times of increased food insecurity.
Additionally, we receive food donations from local churches, members of the community, and various other organizations. These contributions include produce, bread, pastries, drinks, and other essential products that help keep our pantry stocked for those in need. Most of the fruit we supply is gleaned from private residents by our dedicated farmers. The gleaning application is available on our website under the farm tab.
Members of the public are welcome to visit us for fresh produce and other necessities. Donations are greatly appreciated to support our efforts and operations to help keep the community fed with the healthiest options we can provide.
