Uncommon Good is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Claremont that serves the greater Pomona Valley, including Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties.
Our works aims to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through a variety of programs that promote health, education, and environmentalism.
We accomplish our goals by helping underprivileged children succeed in school and go to college, by health and mental health programming, by supporting doctors who are bringing wellness into underserved communities, and through an urban farming hunger relief program.
Uncommon Good has a multi-layered, shared leadership structure. It is composed of the following:
- Student leaders elected by their peers among Uncommon Good students.
- Parent leaders who volunteer to serve from among Uncommon Good parents.
- A staff leadership team of three women and one man. Three of them are Latinx and two are from impoverished Latinx immigrant families.
- An ethnically, gender, and age diverse Board of Directors.
- An ethnically and gender diverse Advisory Board.
