BE A MENTOR
It’s easy to make a big difference in a child’s life. You spend about two hours a week being friends with a child who is growing up in a low income family and needs someone to be a role model. Our students need someone like you to believe in their potential. All it takes is sharing everyday experiences and a combination of no and low cost activities that are fun, educational, cultural, or all three. These could be activities such as exploring college campuses, going to the park, playing sports, visiting museums or just about anything else you can think of! It’s easy and it’s fun and best of all, you’ll have a positive impact on a child’s life…and in your own life. Complete a volunteer application.
The basic requirements for our mentors are:
- Live or work in the Pomona Valley
- 18 years of age or older
- Meet once a week for a minimum of two hours
- Sign up for a minimum of one year
- College student or college graduate
BE A TUTOR
To be a Tutor you just have to spend about 1 ½ – 2 hours a week helping your student with their homework and academic skills. You’ll most likely meet at school or a library, at a time that is convenient for both of you. This is a rewarding way to help a child who needs support and encouragement. So, whether you’re a high school student, college student, working adult, or senior, being a tutor is an ideal way to help a child achieve their dreams. Complete a volunteer application.
