EDUCATIONAL LOAN REPAYMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT COMPETITION

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: Monday, June 18, 2012, 5pm

Uncommon Good has been awarded a grant by the California Community Foundation to fund educational loan repayment assistance for physicians, dentists and pharmacists working full time in Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC) clinics. A preference will be given to doctors who are fluent in another language besides English that is spoken within their patient community, and who exhibit cultural sensitivity to their patient communities. Applicants also will be judged on their long-term interest in serving the poor and their leadership potential. In addition, economic need will be taken into account. Along with this application, letters of recommendation may be submitted.

Uncommon Good will select 4 finalists. The finalists will be reviewed by an advisory committee of the California Community Foundation. Each winner will receive $1,500 a month for one year. If this is more than the person’s minimum monthly debt repayment, he or she will be able to use the extra funds to pay down the principal of the loans from undergraduate and graduate studies.

Applicants must submit this application, their most recently filed tax return, and any letters of recommendation to Uncommon Good by the deadline of June 18, 2012 at 5pm. Winners will be notified in September, 2012.

If chosen for a grant, winners must be willing to be photographed and interviewed by Uncommon Good for its publications. Winners also will be required to attend an awards dinner and to provide some statistics about their work to Uncommon Good.

Completed applications and accompanying materials may be faxed to (909) 625-0342 or be mailed or delivered to:
